Saying Goodbye To Studio A
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.
Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.
I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.
The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.
Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).
Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.
I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.
I wish you all the best for the future! Your column and Becky's sketches were my reason to keep on subscribing to CK but I think I will reconsider now. Thanks for all the inspiration and great articles and I am happy I can still follow your work here on the Blog!

Oh no! I read the magazine for your article and I just renewed. I am wondering what is going on with CK; fist Becky then Lisa and now you. So sad but I will keep reading you here and follow you in your new adventure although I can't to Mykonos :(

Ali, I first discovered your work through CK, and it showed me a different way to scrapbook. Thank you for that! I know you will embrace this change, so I won't be sad. However, I have one question-- will you post more layouts on your blog, from time to time? I loved getting CK to see your newest layouts.

OMGosh!!! I'm having a moment right now. There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said above but please know that you are my #1 creative inspiration. Studio A will be terribly missed by ME!! I have so enjoyed watching Simon grow up in your pages and was enjoying all the pink pages since Anna's birth but I will continue to follow you via TT, your blog, and any new outlet you choose. I never got the opportunity to meet you at a CKU but I hope to meet you one day and give you my thanks in person. I am so THANKFUL for SCRAPPING and for YOU!!!! Many continued years of success my online friend. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I'm beginning to think scrapbooking magazines are headed the way of the dinosaurs. First Simple Scrapbooks. With the loss of writers/artists like Cathy Z., Stacy J., Jessica S. - now Creating Keepsakes losing you and Becky H. - I'm beginning to wonder what will be left in the magazine. All the content I subscribed for is gone. I appreciate the years of inspiration you have provided and hope we'll see lots more of you over at BPS or other online classrooms. I'm LOVING every minute of Yesterday & Today! Thanks so much for your beautiful and meaningful inspiration.

You will be missed. Studio A was the first thing I read in CK each month and I read it each time I picked up the magazine.

Such a sad day. I love Studio A, which is the main reason I bought the magazine each month. Hopefully, this is a good, positive change for you and your family. I can't wait to see how you fill that empty spot for us. Thank you for being such a great mentor and motivator. Thank you for opening your world to us - to make us all better. Have a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Not much I can say that hasn't been covered by everyone else's comments. Your work and your name stands alone, you don't need a magazine behind you.
I am a little concerned that the end is coming for CK. First Becky now you. I love the magazine (and in Canada there are only few to choose from)
We'll see what happens....
Have fun!

That's exactly what I thought. The beginning of the end... since so many mags and companies are disappearing it's really sad.
I am sorry that you leave CK Ali. Your articles and layouts really inspired me a lot :-(

I'm sad too. The only reason I subscribe to CK is because of Studio A.

Ali,
I am so sad that you won't be writing for Creating Keepsakes anymore. I always turned to your column first when I received my magazine in the mail. It seems like Creating Keepsakes is going downhill and more and more of my favorite people are not contributing anymore.
Good luck with your new endeavors!

It looks like I am not alone--your column/articles are the sole reason I subscribe to CK, which means I will not be renewing.
I am sorry to see it end, but I'm so glad you will continue to inspire us in your blog and other areas.
You're the best.

First Becky, now you. It's a sad day for me. Each month, yours was the first column I turned to when I received my copy of CK in the mail. I will miss Studio A. Good luck with all that awaits you creatively...I will look forward to your blog each day for my dose of inspiration. Happy Thanksgiving!

So sad...with you, Lisa, and Becky all leaving it will certainly be a different magazine!
Thanks for all the great columns you have done in the past few years!

As a CK subscriber, Studio A was the first, and sometimes only, column I looked forward to. I'll miss it. At the same time, I'm so happy for the next chapter in your creative journey to begin. You are, without doubt, my single most influential creative inspiration. Thanks to you, I love the 'words and photos'. Thanks to you, I'm telling my story for my children and grandchildren, and loving every minute of it. Thanks, Ali, and many blessings to you.

Please know,Ali, I'm grateful to you for sharing your talent these past years, in CK, and in your books.( I ALSO have a binder with just your pages in it.)
You've inspired me to go beyond the typical"scrapbook" look of my pages. Thankyou thankyou. I wish you all the best in your journey...with your young family and your art.

Ali, I'll miss seeing you every month in CK. I always wanted to read your article first, but I always made myself save the best for last.
Good luck as you move forward. Everyone needs to change and morph and grow. I feel very fortunate that I've gotten to know you through your articles, blog and by taking a class with you at CKU. I look forward to seeing how you blossom in the future.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

I share many of the same sentiments found here; and will probably let my subscription go as well. Your column was the best part of CK! I can't wait to see what you do next, and wish you all the best. I'm glad to see that you will continue with the blog, it's one of the highlights of my day!!
