Saying Goodbye To Studio A

Ck
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.

Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.

I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.

The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.

Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).

Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.

I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

Oh Ali,I know you have so many wonderful ideas to share with us. Your
classes and products you create are just wonderful. I will miss your column as well, but as I emailed you before I knew that there would be an Ali Edwards line of some sort. Please create more for us to buy.
Please still plan the trip to Rome!!!!!

I want to say to you no, no no! First Simple Scrapbooks (both it and the magazine); then Making Memories closing, then scenic route paper company shutting down and now this - surely there has never been a year of worse news in the scrapbooking industry and I must say, the loss of Studio A - my favourite column in any magazine ever is just too much. Like so many others I will miss the column beyond words. After that rant though - thank you for all the faboulous pages and articles over the years and I will continue to enjoy your work here and elsewhere.

I guess I am just repeating many of the comments that others have already shared, but you can never have too much of a good thing right? I am so disappointed that the column is ending. Your scrapbooking perspective is so unique, refreshing, simple, creative, and inspiring. The column truly reflected all of those aspects and was the first section I turned to every time I received CK in the mail. Best of luck on new adventures...

Ali, I will miss your Studio A it is my favourite part of CK and the reason I started buying the mag in the first place. I have a folder that I keep all your Studio A articles in so I can find inspiration easy when I need to and I have nearly every article starting back in 2006. Will look forward to the work you do in the future and of course I am sure I will continue to be inspired by your blog. Thanks Clare

I agree with a lot of other commenters...Studio A was the first thing I looked at in my CK magazine. I will miss that. However, I am now taking the yesterday and today class and enjoying it immensely. I am way behind, but the good thing is that it will last longer that way! I hope you continue to share your scrapbooking genius with us in other ways....

Wow. I'm very sorry to see that column go, and like many others it is yet another loss from CK that diminishes its appeal for me. That said, CK is one of the only magazines that I go back through and re read constantly, but I will very much miss your column. Hopefully this means you'll be posting more layouts and tips on your blog now?

I have been subscribing to CK American Mag (I live in Australia) since you have been in it, it is the only reason I read CK. I love your work and love to follow your blog and also your designs on Designer Digitals. I hope you will have a lot more of your work on your blog or we will be able to find your teachings elsewhere, good luck.

Ali~ LIke the others here, you have impacted my life way beyond scrapbooking. I'm also sad to say goodbye to Studio A (and CK since I won't renew), but know that this will allow space in your very busy life for some other creative goodness to make its way into being. Looking forward to that for you, and for us.

I have to say Ali that I will miss Studio A, I flick to it first as soon as I get the magazine out here in New Zealand. I can totally understand the moving on though....one door closes and another one opens.....I always like to believe that a better door opens. You will be missed in the magazine, I know that I am an avid blog follower of you, you inspire so many people in so many different ways, you are such a cool person...I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing where life takes you in the days ahead, God Bless You and your beautiful family richly!

    Dear Ali~
I am excited to hear that you have new things on the horizon that will be exciting for both your faithful followers + readership, but most importantly you.
I am not a scrapbooker, but I did buy CK specifically for your column. Your creative, clean, and graphic way of expressing ideas and telling a story has always appealed to me.
I would also like to thank you publicly because you have always shared your not-so-run-of-the-mill sources with your readership both in your CK colum and here on your blog--which on many an occasion has included our small family company. You have always shown respect and integrity in this regard.
I will miss your column, but have no doubt that we will all be lucky enough to see you in other places, whether it be new book publications or guest editorials, teaching venues or right here on your blog.
Ali, Best Wishes for what is beyond the horizon!
    Janice

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when reading the title of this post, as for me (someone who has never actually seen the magazine in print, as I have never come across it for sale here in Germany) this is Studio A. This blog, this space of yours, it's where the magic happens, where you share your stories and your work with us. I have enjoyed browsing the pdf archive though and am really looking forward to some new-to-me articles.

You are the only reason I kept my subscription. I have always found inspiration from your feature. I see the demise of the magazine.
