Saying Goodbye To Studio A

Ck
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.

Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.

I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.

The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.

Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).

Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.

I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

WOW. I am sad to hear that your column will no longer be in CK. While I love most of the rest of the magazine, Studio A was the first article I would flip to in every issue. I am excited for you and the possibilities that lie ahead! I will definitely be following you on your blog and am looking forward for what you do next!

With you and Becky both gone from CK they will have a hard time keeping an audience! Thank you for continuing to share with us in your blog. Your creativity, calm spirit, and ability to write what is in your heart have been a blessing to me through the years.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving and a wondrous Christmas with your precious family.

Studio A was always the first article I looked forward to reading in CK. The last few issues I have been delighted to see not only Studio A but additional articles by you as well and was hoping to see more of that.
That being said, I totally understand the need for change in life and hope to follow you in whatever form you choose next.

As a daily follower of your blog, I can learn to accept this fact. But, ONLY because I have daily access to all of your talent and inspiration at my fingertips! I know that you would not have made this decision lightly, and I am positive that you will have many more wonderful things coming your way soon!

I am so sad to see you go! Your article was always the first one I flipped to every month, followed by Becky's. I (along with many others) am going to miss Studio A and I am curious to see where CK goes from here. They have some big shoes to fill...not sure it is possible. I will continue to read your blog and I wish you the best with whatever is next for you! I can truly say that you have changed the way I scrapbook and have inspired me so much...thanks Ali!

I wish I wouldn't be a subscriber until january 2011 ! I don't love this magazine anymore and your column is probably the only I read...
I hope you won't stop scrapbooking, I really really love your work.

I'm going to say something shocking here - don't stop without reading the whole thing! I have been a CK subscriber since the beginning of time (yes, I'm old but that's not the shocking part!) and I have to admit that your column wasn't my favorite. I know - that's terrible!
I can't explain why, except that your style was different than mine. I tend to like cleaner lines like Becky Higgins I guess, and I always thought your pages were more "artsy". Then I found your blog, and became a HUGE fan! I think you are a wonderful writer and so creative. I read your blog every day, and your CK column is now one of my favorites. Or I guess I should say it was now that I learn you are leaving. Without you & Becky I'm very worried about the future of the magazine; seems as though more change may be coming.
I'm happy to hear that you will continue to create and blog. Change can be exciting! You have so many fans, and I'm thrilled to be one of them!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow - the magazine sure is changing! You were a key reason why I was buying CK! While I'm sad to see you leave CK, I'm also excited to see where you'll be headed next on your journey! I'm thrilled that you'll still be blogging...you've got many fans cheering you on, praying for you and your family and who are inspired by your voice. :) Smiles!

Sad to hear that you'll be leaving CK...I just began subscribing because of your column, however, I know you're choosing new creative paths. And on a happier note, I made your recipe for Mac and Cheese last night and it was delicious! My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter had 3 helpings and she's a picky eater!! Thanksgiving blessings to you and your family.

I, too am sadden to see you leave but wish you the best and I will keep up with you here.
I do have to ask- How will CK survive as it keeps losing its stars? Is this a case of jumping from a sinking ship or will the ship sink because its stars out growing them and move out on there own?
I wish you and Becky all the happiness in the world. I do hope CK can pull through, as I do with all the Scrapbook magazines that still exist. I love to curl up in bed and flip through the magazines and jot notes, I don't like taking my Laptop to bed with me and book marking websites as references.

Oh, my heart just sank! Your column in CK is the first thing I go to, just like everyone else is saying, and it's the only column I read and reread and reread! You are so gifted and so giving and I will miss all that you share in those pages.
Will you be posting pages on your blog or anywhere else??? I hope so and I wish you many blessings in your new adventures!

Studio A and Becky Higgins' column were the reasons I continued to subscribe to CK. Although the magazine won't be the same, I am very much looking forward to the new things you have in store and will be "moving forward" with you. Thank you for letting us all learn from you and for being a constant inspiration--you are a true artist!!!
