Saying Goodbye To Studio A

Ck
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.

Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.

I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.

The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.

Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).

Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.

I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

Ali- i am so sad to hear this- you have inspired me to go beyond stickers and do-dads- to become what I hope is a storyteller. And your column was one I would always take something away from. I hope you know that you inspire so many of us- and that at the very least- your blog is like vitaman C for our creativity!

I agree with Arika...unfortunatly your column was the only reason I ever picked up a CK mag! CK, although the leader in the scrappin industry, was filled with advertisements - so overcrowded! Your article was the only breath of fresh, clean air in those pages.
Wish you the best in this move, Ali!

With over 500 comments before me I doubt you will see this but I feel the need to tell you that yours and only yours was the article I clipped every single month. I have a binder of just ALI and I use it like a reference manual all the time.
Gonna miss you! I hope you stay here on the blog or find some other way of educating us!!

Hmm, there really is no more reason to buy CK. When my subscription expires, I will no longer be a customer. With Simple out of print and now CK without you and Becky I truly believe CK will not be far behind!
I love your blog Ali and will still support you in whatever you choose to do. I can't wait to see what that might be.
    All the best!

And what a great final article it is. All of your recent columns at CK are fabulous. The sewing article is so great. As i pass along my older issues of CK, I remove your columns and have them in a binder. So helpful. You are are great and it is a good feeling to move forward. I'll bet it has become difficult to give them new/never seen content as you do that here in such a timely manner. I'm rather sad, but understand. I always made a point to peruse your column the day the mag came, then pore over it soon afterward.

Oh no! I will really miss your column. Last month in my continuing quest to purge I went through about 8 years of CK magazines and tore out the pages that inspired me. I tore out your column every issue, and sometimes that was the only thing I tore out. Best of luck with your new projects, but I will surely miss your articles each issue.

I was sad too with the news of you not being in CK, like many, many others I adored Studio A and am really going to miss it! It was my main reason for subscribing too. The news of online classes really excites me as I have always aspired to attend one of your classes in the future but being based in Australia is a little hard to do so. So I wish you all the best and hope that I will be able to complete one of your classes down the track online! I can't wait to see your translation of your future steps. Inspiring no doubt! : )

    Ali,
I will really miss turning immediately to Studio A when the new issue of CK comes in the mail; (I have them all ripped out and in a special folder). You have been inspiring, challenging and affirming. Thank you. And thank you for sharing your personal journey...even the tough times. I have enjoyed watching Simon grow up and Anna making her appearance. What gifts you have shared with us! You will be dearly missed, and I will be reminding myself that change is good. Best wishes for successful new adventures.

Your column is the main reason I buy the magazine! But if ending the column means that you will do more classes like the one you are doing right now at Big Picture, then I am thrilled because I am loving that class and wondering what I will do next when it ends.

Wow, Ali--I'm so sad that you will not be in CK anymore with a regular column. Yours was always a favorite of mine. Your approach to scrapbooking and preserving memories always has inspired me. I'll continue to follow your blog. You are amazing! Thank you for all of the work and dedication you put into the industry.

Ali, totally cool how positive you are. I think you'll do great! I have been wondering about CK
for the past year or so. It was where I first
discovered you! We fourowed along as readers, just like one big family! We followed Simons story for years! From baby to the big kid he is now!
Your articles have inspired me a lot. I have a
binder of all of them that I ripped from the
    mag.
Now onto BIGGER and BETTER things girl!

    Oh, Miss Ali,
What a sad day! Your column was the only one that I felt I could connect with. It's a sad day for CK. And sadly, more signs that the mag's not doing well.
I will watch to see what's next for you! I'm sure it'll be amazing, as always. Thanks for all you've done for the scrapbooking/papercrafting industry! and for all of the fabulous inspiration!

Seeing your column go saddens me greatly. I will definitely be on the lookout for those Studio A PDF files. They are something every scrapbooker should have.

I'm so sad to hear that you will no longer be a part of CK Magazine! Studio A is my absolute favorite column, and I look forward to it in every issue. You have such a great attitude and outlook on life. I'm sure you hear this all the time, but you are so inspiring! Whenever I'm having a hard time being creative, your blog is the first place I come to look for ideas. I hope you do continue with your blog and I am looking forward to what's next for you! Good luck in all that you do!

It's definitely the end of an era, Ali! Studio A was always my favorite column in CK. As a matter of fact, since that first column in January 2006, I have kept 'intentions' instead of 'resolutions' each year, and gotten a few of my non-scrapbooking friends in the habit, too. I'm very thankful to still have your blog to turn to for inspiration!

    Ali,
    I just read your post.
I was reading my new CK just yesterday wondering where my Studio A article was. I had to come here to find out.
Although this makes me sad (and one of the reasons I got the magazine) I know change is good!
I can't wait to see what you do because I know whatever it is, you will be awesome!
Any chance you'll be doing any type of classes or more non-digital design work?
    Best of luck!!!!
    ~Pamela

I don't ever comment, but for this I must. You are and have always been my favorite contributor to CK. I love the way you tell stories. It's as if I am there with you. You find what is important in life. While others are scrapbooking birthday parties and Christmas morning, you are focusing on the little things that one day we will miss. The things that truly make life worth living and remembering. Thank you so much for adding such quality to my scrapbook albums. My children will one day be grateful as well!
Thank you for all of your wonderfully, creative work and good luck with all you desire in the future!
