Saying Goodbye To Studio A

Ck
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.

Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.

I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.

The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.

Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).

Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.

I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

I am so diappointed. You inspire me with every piece of work that you do. You have brought joy back into my scrapbooking that I was missing for a while. I hope that this transition will allow you to be more free to pursue to opportunities that you want & I can't wait to go along for the ride!

Wow, I can't believe you are leaving, too. I heard about Becky first and then Lisa and now you. It will be interesting to see what I get now as unlike the others, I just resubscribed after having it lapsed for almost a year. I was still buying it in the stores anyway, just spending too much on it. Good luck with your new adventures and I will see your stuff at DD for sure.

"Studio A" was the reason why I subscribed to Creating Keepsakes! Wow, without Studio A and Becky's Sketches I believe December will be my last issue as well. Good luck to you, I'm sure you will still be creating and telling your wonderful stories that need to be told. Here's to the future!

Ali, I have so loved your work in CK. It will be missed. You have always inspired me to break the "rules" I created for my scrapbooking.
I am excited for you and your future plans. I enjoy reading your blog each day. You inspire me!

Wishing you such continued joy and success, Ali! Open a new window . . . open a new door! (Taken from the musical "Mame" - one of my favorite songs!) I look forward to your next journey!

Yours was ALWAYS the first section I would turn to when I got CK in the mail. I am going to seriously miss seeing your work every month. I'm sure I have all of your articles clipped out and in my manilla folder labeled "Ali Edwards Layouts"
I sure hope you post your layouts on your blog or maybe...another book? ;o)

i will continue to read you blog and look forward to your inspiration!
So sad for Ck readers, but really-wishing you all that life has to offer!

I am a supporter of moving up and moving on - congrats on your new ventures!
I did want to tell you thank you, I first saw your work in CK and you have transformed how I think about scrapbooking and also how I create art in general (which is a big part of who I am).
I will miss your articles but I am thankful that you have this great blog as a creative outlet for you and also to help keep us all inspired.

No lie. I was at a crop tonight and grabbed every CK mag on the shelf prior to when I started my subscription and just went to the Studio A to grab some inspiration. So sad to hear that I will not be able to see you in future issues. However, I tune into your blog daily and will continue to do so! You have changed my focus and for that I thank you!

I have only really discovered you in the last year or so, so I am sad to see you leaving CK but happy that you will be continuing your blog and doing on line classes I look forward to seeing what inspiration you provide to us next and setting up an archive in relation to your column would be fantastic.

Your column was what kept me reading every issue! The magazine will not be the same without you. I am glad that I keep up with your blog (I check at least 3 times a week!) and you are such an inspiration. Thanks for letting us into your life and keeping it real, always.

NOOOOOO!! You are the only reason left to get CK. First Becky, now you, I see that magazine going out of business soon, It's so sad to see this hobby we love loosing all the publications that made it so big. I am sure what ever you do it will be wonderful and we will all be here waiting anxiously, ready to support you.

I bought CK (newsstand) simply because of your articles, Ali. I know you are hearing this from a lot of people and I am by no means speaking unkindly of all the other really talented people who are contributors to CK. But you always seem to speak to me. I got what you were saying and it made me "want" to take pictures and write down stories of my life.
I know you will continue to be a powerful force in the industry. Others like me will continue to find inspiration from you where ever you go.
I wish you everything that is good... And brighter things for the new year.
    Tammy
