Home Front Giveaway

SC_JANReveal_Newsletter1

Three people will win the entire Home Front collection (papers, stickets, journaling cards, and FabRips) from Studio Calico.

One person will receive the January main kit from Studio Calico.

The concept of Studio Calico began long before it was a reality. In 2000, while working at a local scrapbook store, April developed an appreciation for innovative supplies along with a respect for preserving memories. Thus, the concept of combining fresh products with non-traditional scrapbook supplies emerged.

At Studio Calico, we hope to encourage the creative process by providing the best supplies on the market as well as a community that is supportive every step of the way.
In the past 2 years we've grown from an idea, to a small boutique of sorts, to manufacturing our own products. As we've grown, we've stayed true to the basics, while looking to the future.

Here's a bit about Lisa and her business:

When
California girl and young mom, Lisa Leonard decided to start her small
jewelry business five years ago, she had no idea how things would take
off.  With a fresh perspective and an artist’s heart she set about
making jewelry that could not be found anywhere else.  Her
hand-stamped, sterling silver jewelry is setting the trends and is
loved by women all over the world.

Her hand-wrought creations have been featured in several
national magazines, such as Parenting Magazine, Pregnancy Magazine,
Victoria Magazine and Wondertime. Online outlets are singing the
praises of Lisa Leonard Designs, including Cookie Magazine and
Glamour.com. Celebrities also love her line, including Josie Bissett,
Jason and Naomi Priestly and Jennie Garth.

Each piece is hand-cut, hammered, stamped, polished and
drilled with care in her California workshop.  You’ll find the perfect
gift for a friend, grandmother, sister or of course, yourself!  And
don’t forget dad or baby.  Lisa offers custom keychain and baby spoons
that will warm the heart.

There are so many words/ actions that I would like to focus on but I think that I can achieve many if I continue to SIMPLIFY my life. Kind of a "less is more" approach; back to basics, etc. 2009 was on many levels such a difficult year for us but one thing that we really focused on was to think twice about purchases, etc. And it's been amazing that we made it thru almost 1-1/2 years now without ever using a credit card. It's been though but if we keep it up for 2010, I can see better times ahead.

My word for this year is freedom. Freedom from debt and freedom to stay home when our little baby is born.

Against every fiber of my being I'm choosing "Change". Not change for change sake, but hopefully a small reminder to change: be the change I want to see in the world, change my attitude when I can not change my circumstances, and to continually change and grow in my health, spirituality, and other neccessary areas.

My word is SHINE. A reminder to keep trying, never give up, just like the sun rises each morning. Each day is an opportunity.

My word is really two words....LET GO. I have a tendency to hang on to hurt feelings or being upset with someone doing bad things. It eats at me. So I'm going to "build that bridge and get over it".

My word is perserverance... this last year was a tough one and God has given me the strength to just put one foot in front of the other and march forward. Lessons I have learned... emotions aren't an accurate barometer of reality, so don't rely on them too heavily.

My word of the year is REVOLUTION because there is a revolution taking place in my life as well as one taking place in my sphere of influence.

Adventure is the word, and enjoying each moment and new beginnings as we head out the year with a service dog for our little guy - taking in each moment with a breath of fresh air and enjoying growth with that

SIMPLIFY- i believe I need to simplify my surroundings, my schedule, my actions. By simpifying I hope to have more time for laughing, loving, and enjoying my family and friends.

One action I am going to do is limit my purchasing of new art supplies. I have so many, and my word for the year is contentment. I feel that being content in life means that I have to integrate being "happy with what I have" in all areas of my life!

My word this year is TIME because there is never enough in one day and I always need more. I need more time spend more with my mom who is fighting brain cancer, more time appreciating my kids and all their daily craziness, more time appreciating my husband and how I just couldn't have gotten through the last 5 months of Mom's battle without his love and support.

I am choosing the word "Story" also, because I am realizing that since I don't like to write I am really missing the story and I don't want to miss it any longer. I am going on a scrapbooking "retreat" with my best girlfriends this weekend and I am committing to telling stories instead of trying to get caught up like I usually do.

My one little word is TIME. I plan to devote more time with my family. To really spend quality time with them, not just sit down and watch a movie with them but actually get involved in thier lives more deeply.

I'm focusing on all the positive things in my life instead of thinking about the things I don't like. Life is GOOD and I'm reminding myself of that every day by saying out loud what I'm thankful for in that moment. Thankful is my word.

I am not sure about my word yet, I am thinking CHERISH. Because this year I want to be better to cherish my husband and son, to love them and spend time with them. Spending time with my family and friends and to let them know that they all are special. Life is too precious, I lost my best friend suddenly early Dec and it was devastating.

This is year I am getting my life in "order".
My step to do this, my last day at work was 12/31. Starting with my house, prayer life and bible study. Looking so forward to see how God is going to use the things I am giving him. (home and time)

My word is "GROWTH". I want to grow as a person in more than one aspect, but one way I plan to focus on my word is by going back to school to work on a degree in Graphic Arts. I have been a SAHM for 19 years and my youngest is now in first grade. I took on a seasonal part time job over the holidays at a craft store and that was a big change! It was a great experience, but it inspired me to look into going back to school instead of going the job route right now. What better way to grow than by learning new things?!! I love the idea of picking a word for the year and I want to do this every year from now on!

I haven't been able to narrow it down to just one word yet. I know this year has alot of change in store and I know I'll need to rely on my own personal strength as well as the support of my family to get me through some of these times. But I'm looking forward to the new year with a greater resolution to truly know who I am and what I want out of life. I suppose that is something I'll be working on the rest of my life... but 2010 will be about finding me! :)

I posted mine on my blog (including the actions I am committing myself to take on them), so now I have to be accountable! My word is "Do" and you can see why on my blog (click on my name to go there). I also found the first new recipe I want to try and am two chapters in on one of the novels I need to read, yay me!
