Why is it that I have this nice big workspace but it always ends up that I work in one little corner? Anyone relate to this?

bwahahaha! i have the same issue. which is why, although i've contemplated moving to a larger spot. i've not because no matter how much larger it would be i'd still have a 12 x 12 spot to work in. lol!

I keep having to actually shove things out of my way so I can work in my little spot on my table. Crazy! but at the same time, I LOVE IT! It's definitely part of the process. If I go somewhere to crop - even for a weekend retreat, I fill up my table and work in the same small spot on my table. Everything is in arms reach and that's important to me.

I too am the same way....Part of my problem is out of sight out of mind. While I haven't solved the problem I did receive a helpful hint to put some containers in your area full of things you want to use, or don't normally use, but can't part with. I now use these items some of which I've had for years, but can't part with. Like the other posters I clean, but...somehow the piles come back and I can only use my 12x12 spot as if I'd never cleaned.

OH, this so me! My table always looks like that when I scrap. My only saving grace seems to be my large Ranger craft sheet. I try to only have the layout I'm working on in that space. :)

ME too! LOL! & lately, rather than put things away before starting another project, I just start piling things up! So I can totally relate...glad to see you aren't perfect like I once thought...ha, ha, ha!

Nope, I can't relate at all. I have a tiny workspace & end up with supplies all over the "non-workspace" areas. :-)

I can so relate to this and I drive myself crazy! I LOVE having a wide open, clean desk space but every stinkin' time I seem to cover every inch of it and leave myself a little corner to work on!

I have a large dining room and no kids left at home, so that is my scrapping space. I have replaced my good wood table with 3 of the plastic 6 foot craft tables (with room for a 4th if I want. They sit together in the center of the room. Currently they are all 3 filled with projects!! My actually open work space is about 1 foot square.I just create better when I have *stuff* around me.

Oh my gosh I totally relate to this the last couple of weeks I've been going into my scrap room for supplies and actually putting my layouts together on the dining room table!!

Hi Ali! and everyone! I think that I spend more tie cleaning up the area than creating, my reach includes the floor also...

Totally relate! I clean the space, begin to work, pile all i'm working with & end up in a teensy amount of space - just like yours!

LOL. I just posted a picture and a lament of the same thing....http://tracyjohnson.typepad.com/scrappin_sanity/2010/02/sunday-random-stuff-and-a-card-of-course.html. It seems to be a common thing!

I used to have the same problem, now what I do is I set up a folding table to hold all the items I'm working with and then it frees up my "workspace" to actually work on. Then it also "forces" me to clean up my stuff instead of leaving it out on the work space, though it doesn't always work that way, but it definitely helps.

Definitely sounds like my work style. My husband is always commenting about how it makes no sense and that putting stuff away as I work would be much easier... I find that disruptive though and would rather go with the flow, leaving the clean up for the end.

I have the same table as you but my "pile" is about three times as high so yes, I wonder this too. I love to create, then get away from it because it takes me a while to get it all cleaned up and sorted again. But I keep coming back so I know the mess is worth it!

It's the law of crafting - the bigger the space you have the less room you have to actually work! :)

I can totally relate. In fact, my space is so bad right now, it has taken away all my creative mojo. Cleaning, purging and reorganizing are at the top of my list.

Oh do I ever. I have a huge table from IKEA, it's actually a conference table. After a few projects I have it full except a tiny square where my scor mat sits. LOL. Then I clean it up and start all over again!

I even bought a counter height table to work on. Guess what! It is completely covered with stuff to organize! I need to get to it but I have not been feeling well lately. Hope I do not have to have another surgery! Thanks Ali!
