IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME HERE, WELCOME! Normally a process post like this would happen over on my Projects blog but since this one includes a giveaway it's happening here (and there's lots of December Daily goodness happening over there). If you'd like to learn more about my site check out my Welcome or About Ali pages.

Here's a look at a stamp I love from the new catalog and the one I'm using in my layout today:

Hello zig zag!

I decided to do a page that highlights some of the things I love about Anna right now.

Here's a look at my process:

I used the new Hero Arts Zig Zag stamp to create a pattern on my white cardstock with Jenni Bowlin Chewing Gum and Malted Milk inks. I didn't stress about making it perfect because I knew I would be adding content on top.

I started by adding a sticker border (Sassafras for Studio Calico) along the bottom - popping it up with foam dots.

I knew I wanted the title to read "Things I love" and I hoped it would fit in that space. Chipboard letters are American Crafts Goodness by Amy Tangerine.

Photo is 4x6 and was printed with a white border.

And yes, another one of those wood flags is popping up here. I love those things.

"Beautiful" is from a set of GCD Studios Melody Ross Soul Food Collection Chipboard Stickers.

For the journaling I used one of my Awakening 4x6 overlays. I opened it in Photoshop, added my text and printed on cardstock.

Along the bottom of the overlay I added a bit of washi tape (I think that came in a Studio Calico kit), her initials in those great little Lily Bee alphabet letter stickers, and an old metal arrow (I think from 7gypsies). Love those arrows. Someone should make those again.

My favourite tradition is decorating our real Christmas tree with my kids. I love that they still want to help even though they are teenagers (and boys) and enjoy remembering where different ornaments have come from over the years. Tomorrow is the big day!

Thanks, once again, for the inspiration and reminder to use stamps in different ways!
Favorite holiday traditions change as the children grow. But one we continue to treasure is decorating the tree. Getting all those ornaments out and remembering the stories behind them.

My favorite holiday tradition is our ornament tradition. Every year, each person gets a special ornament that reflects something they did or accomplished or loved in that year. Let me tell ya, it's not easy always finding that right ornament. My 23 month old loves the trashman and you should see the looks I get at ornament stores and craft shows when I ask if they have a trash truck ornament.

I love making my favorite caramels. I can't keep myself from eating too many of them so I only let myself make them once year. The point is to give them away, so I always have to make twice as many to have enough for others. Oops.

I love your style. My favorite holiday tradition is making Chex mix. My family loves how I make it....no wheat chex, just rice & corn Chex and then cashews....Lots of garlic powder. I made a batch before Thanksgiving with 8 boxes and we snarffed it!

I wasn't sure about the "herringbone" stamp but you've made such a lovely background using it that I think I'm changing my mind.

My favorite holiday tradition......Christmas breakfast & the kids getting their stockings. It seems to be a little slower pace and the stocking seems to be the favorite gift. But in truth, I love everything about the holiday, every little thing!!!!!!!

oh wow.. that Zig Zag stamp is awesome. A favorite holiday tradition in our house is to open one gift on Christmas Eve and then all the rest on Christmas morning.. we try to keep our kids up late so that they don't wake us up too early, but that usually isn't the case. ~ Pam

I have a lot of Hero Arts stamps and would like to add more to my collection. I think I enjoy making the greeting cards that I send to my friends. Our family doesn't have any little kids so Christmas isn't as much fun in that sense so I get my joy out of making the cards and hearing people's response.

My favorite tradition is Christmas Eve candlelight service. Probably the kids' favorite is making the gingerbread houses while they eat all the excess candy and frosting!

As a child on Christmas Eve my parents and us kids would gather around the table to color in several Christmas themed coloring books. We each picked a page to color and then signed and dated them. These books were reserved for Christmas Eve only and were pulled out each year. As kids we really looked forward to this night as a family. Mom made cookies and hot cocoa a we sat in front of the fireplace anxiously awaiting Santa's arrival. I carried this tradition with my kids, and now with my grandchildren. It's a fun night for all.
Love this background stamp. Makes for a wonderful layout backdrop. Hero Arts rocks.
