an end + a beginning + my word

In between working on projects, still battling this ear infection/cold, getting ready for tonight's festivities, drinking coffee, etc, I cleared off the boards above my computer. I do this every so often and today seemed like a pretty good day to invite something new. I am also changing things up by adding some clipboards on the other wall next to my desk for project organization (inspired by Lotta Jansdotter's studio tour).

A fresh start. A new beginning.

I took everything down, put the things worth keeping in an inspiration notebook, and am now ready for new images, new words, new things to motivate + inspire + help me grow in 2008.

For me, in 2008, I am looking forward to getting to the heart of the matter - whatever that is. Clearing away excesses. Focusing on the most important things and not worrying about the rest. Taking a deep breath and beginning one foot in front of the other.

My word for 2008: vitality.

Vitality is the state of being strong and active; energy. Physically. Mentally. Spiritually. Creatively.

Here's to moving forward. To fullness of life. To you and yours.

If you have decided on a word for the year I would love to read what it is - feel free to share in the comments.

Also: Loved this post over at Photojojo on Photo Resolutions. And I think this is the year I will do a 365 project.

Happy New Year Ali and thank you for bringing "the word" up again this New Years.
While I am working towards resolutions and goals for this year, my word for the year has to be PEACE.
Peace in my everyday, peace in the world around me, peace with in our home and peace with in my family. With so much going on around me every day and so much ahead of me this coming year I need to feel more peace and share it with others as well. It might mean simplifiyng more, appreciating more, creating more, relaxing more...I will see where the journey takes me.

    My word is create.
Create art, create memories, create scrapbook pages, create writing, create blog entries, create food, create comfortable and beautiful places within my home, create learning opportunities for myself and for my family (especially my children), create a wonderful life for me and for my family. I think the word create can guide and inspire me in every single aspect of my life.
Thanks for another year of inspiration !

I have been thinking about my word for this year for the past week and it all came down to one word....SIMPLIFY. (& I see it's popular!)
to simplify what we have, simplify what we bring into our home, simplify how we do things and simplify our time.
Last year i had fun with my word (play) and incorporated into our everyday and that's what this year will be too, to simplify our everyday....and enjoy it!
Thank you for your creative inspiration and happy new year to you and your family!

My one word this year is:
    ORGANIZATION
I feel like if I were more organized, and my house ran more smoothly, then I would have more time with my children, my husband, and my creative endeavors, such as scrapbooking. I wouldn't waste time finding shoes, or being late for work, or up so late cleaning that I wouldn't have time to scrapbook.

    Hi Ali,
I found your website from Tim's (Holtz that is). One word...just one? Wow...that's a lot harder than I thought it would be.
My one word will be: CREATE
    1. to bring into existence
    2. a) to invest with a new form, office, or rank
    2. b) to produce or bring about by a course of action or behavior
    3. to produce through imaginative skill
    I will CREATE a fun-filled craft studio.
I will CREATE organization systems that work for my family and me.
I will CREATE the way I want to live.
I will CREATE excitement about my business and in doing so CREATE new opportunities for my business to grow.
Thank you for sharing your one word with us and making us think of ours.

i participated last year and my word was 'live'. and looking back on the year, i was disappointed. i kind of let my word fall into the background.
this year is so full of change {new house, new job, new promotion for adam} that i think it is so important to keep that in check and really live.
so my word for this year is STRIVE.
    strive to live.
    strive to love.
    strive to excel.
strive to maintain balance (and sanity).
strive to live for myself and each other.
    strive to live my life.

SIMPLIFY. . .if there is a difficult way to so something - making an active choice NOT to go that route. . .LOL. honestly - simplifying my processes, my routines, my actions, my life - less stuff = more meaning, I hope.
    happy new year!

I am so glad to be able to share my word for 2008... It is something that was sadly lacking from 2007. That word is JOY and my best definition for it is INTENSE and especially ECSTATIC or EXULTANT HAPPINESS. I will work throughout this new year in manifesting this joy in my life and in my art. Reading Ali's Blog inspires me every day to be the best I can be and to see the world around me as a constant source of inspiration.
    Happy New Year,
    Alexandra

I love this idea. There are really so many words that could work, but I couldn't come up with just one, so I was looking through the comments and found one that really resonated with me, so I am going to share with Denise (Valrico FL): THRIVE {to grow vigorously : flourish : prosper : to progress toward or realize a goal despite or because of circumstances}. That is what I really want to work on this year.

    PATIENCE
being a mommy to a special little girl requires a lot of it. I also need to have patience with Hayden as he begins to discover himself. I need to focus on that so that we can all grow as a family - together.
    Happy New Year Ali!
love ya bunches - I hope you feel better soon.

    Hi Ali --
Happy New Year! Thanks for all of your inspiration and ideas. I decided my word for 2008 will be FOCUS. I chose it because I very easily tend to lose focus. I start one activity, then remember another and off I go and oh yeah, I forgot to do this other thing. By putting that word in front of me, I beleive I will bring more organization and efficiency into my life and that of my family. Thanks again for the inspiration and all the great ideas. Feel better soon.

My one word for this year is FULFILL. I have many lifelong goals and some short term goals that I want to fulfill this year. I always seem to fear the unknown and therefore I don't act upon my desires or dreams. This year I will fulfill my desires and dreams. This a year of new beginnings for me.
My two main goals are 1) graduate with my B.A. and enter a master's program. 2) get my business up and going. My head is exploding with ideas so I need to act on them.
