an end + a beginning + my word

In between working on projects, still battling this ear infection/cold, getting ready for tonight's festivities, drinking coffee, etc, I cleared off the boards above my computer. I do this every so often and today seemed like a pretty good day to invite something new. I am also changing things up by adding some clipboards on the other wall next to my desk for project organization (inspired by Lotta Jansdotter's studio tour).

A fresh start. A new beginning.

I took everything down, put the things worth keeping in an inspiration notebook, and am now ready for new images, new words, new things to motivate + inspire + help me grow in 2008.

For me, in 2008, I am looking forward to getting to the heart of the matter - whatever that is. Clearing away excesses. Focusing on the most important things and not worrying about the rest. Taking a deep breath and beginning one foot in front of the other.

My word for 2008: vitality.

Vitality is the state of being strong and active; energy. Physically. Mentally. Spiritually. Creatively.

Here's to moving forward. To fullness of life. To you and yours.

If you have decided on a word for the year I would love to read what it is - feel free to share in the comments.

Also: Loved this post over at Photojojo on Photo Resolutions. And I think this is the year I will do a 365 project.

My word for this year is CELEBRATE. I have recently embarked on a new life journey and the past six months have been about the start of that...now as I look forward to the future I see the opportunity to CELEBRATE each day - the small victories, the moments that matter. CELEBRATE!

This is the first year I have picked a word and am excited about this. I am going to go with HARMONY. We have such busy lifes for many reasons, we have amazing children -our son who is also autistic has made me realize how important all the little things are - the words, the laughter, the achievements, all the milestones. I am going to concentrate on bringing Harmony - balancing together all aspects of life - family, play, work, peace, creativity.
With harmony comes the balance that gives us satisfaction in being the best that we can be, most importantly for our loved ones.
Thanks always for sharing - hope your feeling better.

My word for the year is...COURAGE. to be courageous when faced with bumps in the road, detours on the journey. Or, when checking the actual definition: "the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc. without fear; bravery" and finding this listed, as well, as an obsolete definition: "the heart as the source of emotions"...which doesn't feel all that obsolete to me. Also, a friend and I challenged each other to do a picture a day in 2008, aka a 365 album, so I will need some courage to do this! Thanks, Ali for your inspiration...

Ali- I have been a lurker on your blog for the past year or so, and you truly inspire me- I look forward to each new post.
My word for the year is WISE-
I am building this on the Bible verse "A wise woman builds her house..." (Proverbs14:1)
I seem to have been lacking in my job as a wife and mother and I want to refocus my efforts here at home.
I want to make WISE choices in my eating and for my body and lose the 25 extra pounds I seem to have accumulated over the last 2 or 3 years.
I need to make WISE choices as I shop as I have a tendency to be an impulse buyer.
Thanks so much for your inspiration!

    Hi Ali,
My word for 2008 is Random. Without definite aim, reason or pattern. My plan is to use up random bits and pieces from previous projects and to scrapbook a day in my life each month randomly and unplanned.

    Hi Ali,
Love starting the new year with a word to focus on. My word is:
JOURNEY: the act of traveling from one place to another. This year I want to focus on the process of learning (moving from one place to another in education and experimentation) and soak up the joy of my art.

My word is Motivate. I need to find some motivation to get fit, to quit procrasinating, to get off this computer and play with my kids, motivate myself to figure out what I want to do with my life, motivate myself to be a better wife, mother, daughter, friend, sister, Christian. To motivate myself to find balance in my life.

COMMIT I think will be my word this year.I have some big aspirations this year and to amke them happen I need to commit. Not that I'm big into horoscopes but something drew me to it today. I found it most appropriate!
Sit with yourself and look at the big picture. Figure out what it is that you want.
"Your dreams are important right now, no matter how realistic they may seem. Make sure that you're not just going through the motions -- you've really got to put some work into them at this time."
...and that takes commitment! Thanks for the inspiration....I'll be doing the 365 photo challenge too!

    Happy New year!
I am following Ali's { A } word for the year idea...and have been thinking for days about my word. It's an odd word to have come up with...and I don't know why I did...but I am guessing that it will all come clear as the year 2008 progresses. My word is POSSIBILITIES. and Webster's definition of it it:
1: the condition or fact of being possible
2archaic : one's utmost power, capacity, or ability
    3: something that is possible
4: potential or prospective value —usually used in plural

In June we have baby #3 in 3 years coming and three under three has my stress level up. So my word for 2008 is SIMPLIFY. With another baby there is always so much stuff that comes with the little bundle and so I'm cleaning out the clutter and simplifying my life.

After listening to a message in church on Sunday about 'Good News in Bad Times' I have chose PERSEVERE as my word. It means to keep my eyes on God during the trials, hurts, suffering, losses, frustrations, etc. of life and allow God to strengthen my character. That is definitely what I hope to do this year.
