When I was a child, my maternal grandparents were "next door" to us. They had about 80 acres and farmed most of it. My grandfather had a wagon that would hitch behind the tractor. He would take my brother and I down to the watermelon fields and we would help load them all up. We would accidentally drop a few and eat them there in the field. Then they went in a pile under the walnut tree and every neighbow that stopped by for a visit got to take one home.

One of my favorite childhood memories is sleeping in the backyard with my friends. It seems like more nights were spend in sleeping bags than in our beds, during the summers.

Summer storms were always fun. My parents would let us play in the rain and it was a great way to cool down after days of hot weather.

one of my favoirte memories is from Family Camp. We would go once in the fall and once in the Spring with our church and stay in a cabin with our really close friends (about four families total). I remember the fun we had as kids and this singing around the campfire the adults did at night. It was fun, peaceful, and relaxing.

I loved spending time with my Non - we would have sleepovers, oil paint, sing and play the piano and we would take the salt shaker out and eat cucumbers fresh out of the garden! so much fun - so much love!

My favorite summer memories are of playing outside in the neighborhood with all the kids on the street. We'd stay out for hours and ride our bikes, scooters, skateboards and roller skate. At night our dad would come out and help us "race" in our medal push cars. Then we'd play hide N' seek when it got dark...so much fun! Nowadays our kids can't play outside much...so sad.

All my chilhood memories involve water. Whether it was the daily treks to the local swimming pool. (We would ride our bikes through town wearing nothing but uur suits w/ a towel around our neck). Or swimming and skiing at the lake. My Dad would ski with me on his shoulders when I was barely 2. I would never think of doing that with my own kids now!

My favorite childhood memory is running around in the backyard in the dark catching fireflies and watching them glow on our hands and then letting them fly off again. We don't see the same kinds of fireflies where I live now but I do think of them every time we are out after dark.

my favorite childhood memory is of summer weekends because my parents had a very large pool and our family and friends would routinely gather to spend the weekend outside swimming and BBQ'ing.

Wow... beautiful giveaway, I love Elle's studio products, I have quite a few of the christmas tags :)
My favorite summertime memory was camping with my parents in Port Kent, NY every summer. I loved that the campground was safe enough for a little girl to feel like she had the freedom of the world to wander the meadow at the bottom of the hill; to explore and enjoy the beautiful weather, butterflies, and the little creatures of the woods. I loved that my family always spent this time together and wish for that time again when things were easier and those I love were still with us. My favorite time with my grandfather and father was these summers, just being near them, seeing them so relaxed, my dad passed away when I was 15, so I treasure these memories. I feel blessed that I had these moments.
Wow, Ali, you're prompts are always so thought provoking... this one made me long for a few more moments with my Daddy & my Poppa... Thanks for helping me to remember those good times.
    Enjoy your weekend!

When I was in elementary school, I attended a private school in Philadelphia, which was pretty far from where we lived in the 'burbs. My best friend and I stayed in touch long after we "graduated" 6th grade, even though by then we lived over 100 miles apart (this was before the internet!)
The summer I turned 14, her family camped near my house and invited me to spend the week with them. I swam in a lake, roasted marshmallows over a campfire, hiked trails, and stayed up late chatting with my friend under the stars - all for the very first time. This memory ranks up there with the best weeks of my entire life.

As akid summer meant camping vacations on the St. Lawrence Seaway and swimming. Love the smell of a camp fire with marshmellows cooking.

Eating watermelon at Grandma's house. She would send us outside to eat it, in order to avoid the juicy mess we'd make eating in the kitchen. But she never sent us outside unless she was coming along. So, eating watermelon under the shade of a tree in Grandma's yard, with pink juicy chins(G'ma too), is my favorite summer childhood memory.
    Sigh...:)

My favorite summertime memory was going to the library and getting a huge stack of books. We'd lay out on the trampoline with our blankets and read for hours. Hours of Nancy Drew Mysteries.

My favorite family memory was going to Cedar Point amusement part on Lake Eiie every year. My parents didn't have enough money when I was growing up to take family vacations, so my mother along with her two sisters and their kids would take us all to Cedar Point every summer. Something about being at a park surrounded by water that made it special.
