Saying Goodbye To Studio A

Ck
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.

Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.

I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.

The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.

Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).

Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.

I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

Ali you will definitely be missed in CK. As with so many others you were one of the main reasons I subscribed to it when I did. I have always loved the simple, effective and honest way you teach and scrapbook about the everyday. Though much of my scrapbooking is slightly different than your style, I have always been inspired, have always learned, have always connected to your words and when I scrapbook I hear your words in my head, that no matter what Iam creating its "OK".
Good luck with your new endevors. I can't wait to hear about some of them. Peace. :)

Wow, so sad. I will miss you in the magazine and feel blessed that we'll still be connected here. With both you and Becky gone it will be a much different magazine.... Wishing you the best of luck for what comes next and I'm excited to join you for the ride.

Studio A was the best part of CK. I cancelled my subscription and my only regret was maybe missing your work. Your website is a favorite on my toolbar and I try to visit everyday. I wish I were an artist like you. I love everything about your photographs, your creativity and imagination. If there were an Ali Edwards magazine, I promise would subscribe. I wish you all the best in your creative journey through scrapbooking, photographing, and life journaling. You are an inspiration.

I love reading the content of your article and blog very much. Even though our "styles" may be very different, I enjoyed your prompts and the ability to make me think about the story that I want to tell.
In my specific case, I am saddened that you are leaving. You said that you hope to do more education, but for me that means money that I will have to pay for an online class, that unfortunately is always out of my price range.
I'm excited that you are moving forward and will continue to blog. Keep your chin up and your creativity flowing. It positively effects others!

I love to see your work in CK. That's the first article that I look at and read. More than once. Sad to see you go from their pages. I regularly read your blog, however there is something special about your work in the mag.
Good luck on your new adventures.

I am so bummed about this! Your column is one of the main reasons I subscribe to CK. I got such great ideas from it each month and your examples showed us how to tell the story and create in a realistic way. The magazine is so artsy now and I have enjoyed seeing pages like yours that focused on the story. I am looking forward to seeing what comes for you now and will continue to watch your blog! Thanks for all the inspiration!

You were the only reason I still subscribed. I'll miss having something to rip out and place in my Ali Inspiration book. Thanks for all you've done for this industry, Ali. I wish you the very best as you decide how to move forward.

    Hi Ali,
I must say my first thought was oh no! but realized that your beautiful, inspiring work will still be available here and besides your blog is more personal and free flowing. I do not think I shall buy CK unless the quick flick in the newsagent reveals something I like.
It must have been hard to be creative under pressure from work deadlines and still wanting to be there as a committed Mother to Simon and Anna. I know I find it hard to be creative and design inspiring and original homes and interiors when under a variety of pressures. Time being one of the biggest.
I wish you success, love, joy and freedom. May you always have inspiration and creativity in one form or another in your life. I look forward to following your creative life.

Wow-things are really changing in the scrapping world. I have been a follower of CK since almost the begining. But I will admit that in recent years, I only bought the magazine because of your column and Becky's. I am sad to see both of you leave the magazine, but I can completely understand. Thank you for all the inspiration over the years. I am so, so thankful I had the chance to take a class with you 2 years ago. I have all of your books and have kept all of the Studio A columns in a binder--so I don't have look very far for AE inspiration! LOL I look forward to seeing what you are up to. I hope you and your family enjoy a wonderful holiday season!

NO!!! No, no NO! (insert foot stomping here) ... Well, I guess I have one less magazine subscription.
Sorry, but true ... I love Becky's Sketches ... and definitely wasn't happy to hear that was stopping. Ali, you leaving is the final straw. You had BETTER not stop blogging! I look forward to your posts popping up in my reader everyday (or almost). It helps me get through the day to be honest!

As so many have said already...I too will miss Studio A. It was a big reason why I kept buying the magazine. Your ideas always inspired me to move forward in new ways with my own scrapbooking. Good luck in your new adventures and I'll be one of many to continue following you on your blog.
