Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My superpower is being able to find things that people have lost. Really, that's what I am known for.
The thing that I am best at is embracing imperfection. My projects don't always work they way I want them to, but I can usually find a way to embrace the outcome and make them work for me.

My superpower is that I can organize and manage complex projects or rescue failed ones. And have this crazy confidence while doing it - I have no idea where that confidence comes from, but it's there. I never wonder what the heck I'm doing, I just do it.

My superpower is being a strong woman who can take anything life throws at her and roll with it. My husband deploys six months out of the year...every year. I take care of our house, three kids (8, 5 and 5), and two dogs. Let me tell you sometimes it is not easy.

I have admired her necklaces for a couple of years now - they are fantastic! As for my superpower....I'm generous - almost to a fault! I love to give people love, things, time...to show them that I love them.

My super-powers are Perserverence and Faith. I have a neuromuscular disease which slows me down physically but I adapt, change and show courage and strength. I believe strongly that with God anything is possible!

I am a superhero at collecting scrapbook supplies, but I feel like I'm getting better about choosing things I will definitely use and I'm generous with my supplies when friends come over to crop.

My superpower is the ability to listen to and understand people. I think I feel what people are saying as much as I hear it with my ears.

I love that I have the time to volunteer a day a week to my church kids program.

i'm going to say my superhero power is total APPROCHABILITY.
i'm the gal who mom's hand their babies over to at the mall when they don't have enough hands, the gal who is asked "where are the feminine hygiene supplies?" at the drug store and the gal who gets the 2am phone calls from pals.
pretty awesome when i thought about it.
    thanks Ali....for the realization.
i'm feeling pretty powerful this morning...

    Gorgeous blog and gorgeous jewellery!
Hmmm my superpower? It's a very hard question.
Well I think that generally, come what may, I have a cheery disposition and I like to make those around me happy with a nice comment ro a surprise package or cake. I love writing and baking, and I am proud that despite corporate life I am slowly managing to incorporate my passions into my life.
    Phew! That was hard!
Thanks for the beautiful blog and the giveaway!

    What a beautiful necklace!
    SUPERPOWER????? ugh!
I don't feel super at all.........but you've made me think.......and I guess not giving up is my super power! I take care of my husband's gramma, she raised him. She is very sick right, we might lose her. I took care of her husband until he passed away...as well as taking care of my young family! My children were born into this, they are used to waiting! So sad. I hope they learn from my sacrifices. I'm tired and stressed all the time trying to keep up with everyone. But I just can't give up on gramma and keep her in a nursing home, she hates it, and I can't do that to her. Even though when she is in for re-hab purposes, it gives us freedom to live and do things. Being a caretaker is a hard job, and you have to make hard choices. most days I deal with it....some days I want to run away.
This turned into a little vent.......sigh!
thanks for the chance to win. blessings to all of us with "super powers"!

I'm good at organizing. It's obsessive behavior that makes my life a little more functional and I think I would have been a good professional organizer! :) Thanks for the positive thought link!

I was a single mom to 4 boys living in the deep south without a college degree. 2 are teachers, 1 is working on his master's in English lit moving towards being a professor, and 1 is working on his journeyman electrician's license (he'll probably end up making the most money). I am still relatively sane and love them dearly-superpower enough for me.

    Those are great necklaces!
I guess my superpower would be just handling the everyday schedule of being a mom (to my 3 wonderful children), full-time employee, wife, and homemaker! Keeping all that together really takes a lot of superpowers!!

My superhero power is that I persevere. It can be tough- but I have done it in the worst of my times. I am able to hold it together enough to create a happy place for myself, my husband and my children when we need to. But I am also able to honestly communicate the situation and show emotion.
    Love superhero.

My superpower would be that I am a good listener. I never realized this until several friends started telling me I was. The funny thing about that, it comes pretty easy to me!

My superpower? I am an time-organization goddess! Although my home is tidy and organized, my work/school-life is as well (I am a 45-year old graduate student working on her PhD). I'm very good at keeping a calendar and rarely, if ever, being late for anything.
    Absolutely LOVE this jewelry!!
