Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero

Superhero

Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]

Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.

I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.

Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).

Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.

To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.

Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

Rachel Ray has nothing on me. I can get home from work at 5:40 & have a nutritious & delicious meal on the table by 6pm. My husband still can't believe it after 13 years of marriage!!!

Admitedly, I have been pondering this for quite a few too many minutes. My superpower...I have a lust for learning. I can have a conversation with just about anyone and fine some commonground and get to know things about them that they maybe don't share with others.

I guess my superpower would be that I am very thrifty! I try to turn ordinary things into other useful things instead of trashing it. I love clipping coupons and saving where I can! Thanks for the giveaway!!

My superpower? I am a very good coach for people. Not always so good at doing what I say my self but I am very good at helping people at work and in life figure out how to achieve. And I am a very good Mom to 3 grownups and a super Nana to my 4 granddaughters. So the fact that I am not very organized or have never scrapped a page shouldn't matter to me so much!

I love her necklaces! I actually already have the "passion" one, but would love another one! :)
    My superpower is:
I can fit my entire fist into my mouth.
    Another superpower is:
I am a great listener, and give thoughtful advice when requested.

mmmm.... my superpower is my ability to be multiple superbeings .. sometimes at the same time ! While I type I am ust mild mannered 'me' but already this morning I have had to call upon my personas of momma, mother, wife, sister, daughter, teacher, cook (not so good there!), maid ( not so much here either! ) mentor, counselor and coach ... I am hoping this day will bring a call for my scrapbooker persona ! There's time it's only 9AM :o)

What a beautiful necklace. Hmm - what superpower do I have? Maybe it's my power of listening? I am a very good listener and friends know they can call on me when they are in need to talk to someone who can listen without judging and offer them support.

This is a fun question. It's fun to read others' answers. I guess I'll add to the fun for a chance of a cool necklace!
One of my superpowers is the ability to make people laugh at bad situations or, at least, at themselves. That's not to say I don't take troubles seriously, but laughing about it helps.
I also have the superpower of making bibliographies conform to professional style guides. As a journal editor who comes in contact with other authors' bibliographies, I have only recently come to realize this MUST be a relatively unique skill.

I am certainly not the perfect mom but I juggle a full time teaching job(high schoolers :), 3 young kids, a horse, dog and fish and everytime I go away, my husband wonders how I do it all. I love my life. Thanks for the chance.

    That is a BEAUTIFUL necklace!
My superpower....wow, this is very hard....
I think my superpowers comes alive when my husband is deployed or surged, I can be the mom & dad, the fixer of all things, not let my son see or feal my fear, let him know that he is loved, just be there. And that I help my DH to know that he has nothing to worry about us here at home or the house, he just needs to do his job the best he can & stay safe, while I do mine.
He has told me that he doesn't worry, cause he knows that I can do anything that comes my way & needs to be taken care of, good or bad, superpowers or not.
Thank you for this opportunity to write it down.

I think my super power is being able to stop what I am doing and really listen to my kids when they want me to "look Mommy" or when they have something to tell me. Being able to completely tune in to them has bonded us even closer and made me appreciate and LIVE these fleeting moments.

    Hi Ali,
My first thought was that my super power must be ridding the world of cupcakes, since I spend so much trying to destroy them... :)
More seriously, I think my super power is walking in other peoples' shoes - I find that I can relate to most anyone and feel at ease with many different types of people. Which means my life is a lot richer!
Thanks for the chance to win!

My superpower is organizing my home lately. I am trying to get rid of clutter and just keep what I feel is necessary.
Good luck and can't wait to "meet" Baby A!

My superpower is my eye for details. I see things that most people just don't notice. I notice the little things... It can be anything from hearing a tone of sadness in someones voice to seeing that they changed the color on a flowerpot. I like my superpower because it brings me joy and often makes me feel special that I can see things that other people can't.

Superpowers? wow!, never thought of that one!
I think one of my "superpowers" would be that no matter how bad and taugh things are at times in my life, I will NEVER give up, I will never colapse and I always make it happen. Another one I am sure is that I always make people around me laugh, and they love it!
    Thanks Ali!

I unfortunately got to "test" out my superpowers out this past week. My brother in law died unexpectedly. At the funeral, I helped my sister greet people and helped her out with the awkward silences following their condolences. Somehow I am able to fill in silences in tragic or upsetting times and put people at ease. I think I do okay at occasions that aren't so somber, but for some reason, while other people tend to clam up, I am able to say things and assist people in times of great need.
